Weet Versus Top Competitors

by Ashley Villegas

1. Introduction to top screen recording tools

When selecting a video messaging tool for your business or team, there are several factors to consider. And with the flood of new tools on the web for everything from marketing automation to plugins for sales prospecting, your choices are certainly overwhelming.

Keep in mind that only some video and screen recording tools are backed by a full team with support and resources to help you along the way. This article will cover the top players; Loom, Vidyard, CloudApp and Camtasia.

The Weet vision is to bring humanity to the remote work world that other tools miss. While it’s no replacement for in-person contact, remote work can sometimes feel isolating and Weet adds a friendly face and voice to the tone of a proposal, feedback or tool walkthrough.

2. Weet versus Loom

The differences between Weet and Loom are many. For starters, Loom requires a download. This can be frustrating when non-Loom users need to reply to a Loom video. Since Weet works directly in your browser, you can easily collaborate without a download.

One of the key differentiators of Weet are the collaboration features. Real-time editing is possible with Weet and you do not have to share a new link or video to present those changes. Loom unfortunately requires you to start over from scratch. Not to mention, the features that make Weet collaborative are not present in Loom.

These include chapters, in video rich commenting options (Loom allows for emoji reactions however Weet users have their pick of emojis, audio, video, text and so on), virtual backgrounds and customization and AI-powered features that provide auto transcription and clean recording with noise cancellation.

The editing features of both are similar except for captioning. After your Weet transcript is complete, you can edit the full transcript in case our AI did not catch key phrases in your speech.

In terms of integrations, Weet will soon have Slack and Teams integrations. Loom only offers a Slack integration at this time.

To use your screen and webcam outside of Chrome, you must use a mac app download for Loom. Annotations also require the mac app.

3. Weet versus Vidyard

Vidyard’s key differentiator and strength are in the number of sales and marketing integrations it offers. However, its collaboration features are limited. With Vidyard, you cannot make edits in real-time without having to start over.

Like Loom and GetCloud app, your Vidyard recording will be in a stand-alone video, leaving little room for any collaboration at all. Making it great for one-way sales or marketing video communication (given the integrations) but quite limited in engagement. Vidyard does boast the longest recording time of the group, however, of up to one hour!

Of all the tools mentioned, it offers the fewest number of embeds and still requires a download just like Loom, Camtasia and GetCloud. Vidyard does not offer the AI capabilities of Weet like auto transcription and noise cancellation, chapters, virtual filters or backgrounds.

The Vidyard starter plan is also the most expensive of all the options listed in this article.

4. Weet versus Camtasia

Camtasia, like many other video and screen recording tools, requires a download to work, taking up storage space on your computer. Not to mention, the costly upfront fee for purchasing such tools. Camtasia runs users $249.00 to download. With Weet, you can log in directly from your Chromium browser, no download necessary. You can also try all of the features now at no cost.

Camtasia does not offer hosting or a content management system. Weet is a hosting service and CMS in one. The workspace allows you to organize your videos by hashtag. You can also easily search your Weet workspace for a specific video by key term. Your videos will not be removed unless you hit the delete button!

Desktop software downloads typically do not offer a mobile app. Weet will soon have Apple iOS and Android applications.

Camtasia allows you to create stand-alone videos that are great for one-way communication but do not allow much for collaboration. There is also no way to embed most stand-alone videos.

Weet offers a copy and paste code to embed on web pages, blogs and anywhere you can use Html source code. A Weet can be organized into multiple chapters with titles so your views can go directly to the part of the video that’s most relevant to their needs. Standalone videos require a full viewing to understand the topics covered.

Weet will also soon have the capability to upload existing videos, which most stand-alone tools do not allow. Weet also provides statistics so you can track who has viewed your video and answer feedback directly on your time.

5. Weet versus CloudApp

CloudApp leaves some room for improvements and is among some tough competition. Like Camtasia, there is no mobile app available and a download is required. Annotations and screenshots are available in Chrome only.

As mentioned in the Vidyard and Loom comparisons above, users are not able to update a recording in real-time, there are no collaborative features, chapters, virtual backgrounds or filters or AI-powered capabilities. Its editing capabilities are the most limited of all the listed options however branding and CTA are available on the pro plan. Weet offers free CTA but no video branding at this time.

There is no workspace available in CloudApp or in-video rich commenting options leaving little room for any collaboration or engagement. It also does not feature any of the integration options available with Weet, Loom and Vidyard.
